PATENT SPECIFICATION
Application Date : Feb. 11, 1931. No, 4284/31. Complete Left : Nov. 4, 1931. Complete Accepted : March 17, 1932.
PROVISIONAL SPECIFICATION. Improvements in Safety Razors.
368,943

I, KARL BRAUN, of 1, König Albert Platz, Klotzsche, near Dresden, Germany, a German citizen, do hereby declare the nature of this invention to be as follows:—

This invention relates to a safety razor and consists in providing the razor with a handle in the form of an electric torch and with a carrier frame adapted to retain itself on said torch and allow the bulb to illuminate the spot whereon the razor operates.

Fig. 1 of the accompanying drawings represents a side view of the improved razor,

Fig. 2 is a part section of the same seen in a direction at right angles to Fig. 1, and

Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the carrier frame.

The razor comprises the usual clamping plates fitted with a clamp screw h, a milled nut i, and positioning studs g.

According to the invention the razor is clamped to a carrier frame which comprises a top plate d having apertures e and f for the reception of the screw h and the studs g. The frame also comprises two side members c which are connected to lugs b arranged in diametrically opposite positions on a sleeve a. The latter is adapted to receive and to retain the razor on the top end of an ordinary electric torch k which serves as a handle for the razor. The arrangement is such that the bulb of the torch will be situated in the orifice of the sleeve k, and the light rays will thus pass through the open carrier frame and effectively illuminate the spot whereon the razor operates.

COMPLETE SPECIFICATION. Improvements in Safety Razors.

I, KARL BRAUN, of 1, König Albert Platz, Klotzsche, near Dresden, Germany, a German citizen, do hereby declare the nature of this invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, to be particularly described and ascertained in and by the following statement :—

The invention relates to a combined safety razor and electric torch and its chief object is to combine together such articles in the form of a single self-contained unit without the necessity of the employment of conducting wires for connection to a battery or other source of electric supply as was necessary in constructions hitherto proposed, in which an electric incandescent lamp was mounted by means of a clip upon the handle of an existing ordinary or safety razor so as to illuminate the spot on which the razor operated.

The combined safety razor and electric torch according to the invention includes a carrier frame for the razor blade and an operating handle upon which the carrier frame is mounted, the operating handle being in the form of a casing adapted to contain an electric battery and to support an electric lamp supplied with current from said battery, the electric lamp being mounted in a position in which it will illuminate the spot whereon the razor operates.

The blade-supporting frame is preferably carried by a sleeve which may be mounted upon the extremity of the casing, the axis of the rays of light from the lamp being disposed substantially centrally of the razor blade.

In order that the said invention may be clearly understood and readily carried into effect, the same will now be described more fully with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:—

Fig. 1 of the drawings accompanying the provisional specification represents a side view of the improved razor and electric torch,

Fig. 2 is a part section taken at right angles to Fig. 1, and

Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the carrier frame.

The razor comprises the usual clamping plates fitted with a clamp screw h, a milled nut i, and positioning studs g.

The razor is clamped to the carrier frame which comprises a top plate d having apertures e and f for the reception of the screw h and the studs g. The frame also comprises two side members c which are connected to lugs b arranged in diametrically opposite positions on a sleeve a. The latter is adapted to receive and to retain the razor on the top end of an ordinary electric torch k which serves as a handle for the razor. The arrangement is such that the bulb of the torch will be situated in the orifice of the sleeve a, and the light rays will thus pass through the open carrier frame and effectively illuminate the spot whereon the razor operates.

Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is :—

1. A combined safety razor and electric torch including a carrier frame for the razor blade and an operating handle upon which the carrier frame is mounted, the operating handle being in the form of a casing adapted to contain an electric battery and to support an electric lamp supplied with current from said battery, the electric lamp being mounted in a position in which it will illuminate the spot whereon the razor operates.

2. A combined safety razor and electric torch as in claim 1 wherein the blade supporting frame is carried by a sleeve adapted to be mounted upon the extremity of the battery casing.

3. A combined safety razor and electric torch as in claim 2 wherein the blade supporting frame includes an apertured top plate adapted to receive the razor blade and two spaced side members serving to connect the apertured plate to the sleeve in spaced relationship.

4. A combined safety razor and electric torch as in claim 2 wherein the sleeve and its associated blade supporting frame are mounted upon the battery casing in a detachable manner.

5. A combined safety razor and electric torch having its parts constructed, arranged and adapted to operate substantially as in the manner hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
