To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Oris Elan Fearn, of Haigler, in the county of Dundy and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Razor-Handles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to handles for razors and has for its object the production of a cheap and simple handle which may be readily attached or detached. The invention consists of the construction and arrangement of the several parts which will be more fully hereinafter described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings:—Figures 1 and 2 are opposite side views of a razor with my improved handle. Fig. 3 is a view of the latter detached.

Referring to the drawings, A designates a razor of ordinary construction provided with a rigid shank a, having an outer curved or reduced end a′.

B is the handle which consists of a ring or loop b, the opening in which is made to fit the third or fourth finger of the hand of the operator, the side of said ring or loop being beveled, as shown at b′. From this ring or loop projects a hollow shank b² the opening in which corresponds with the curved or reduced end of shank a which is designed to fit snug therein and be firmly held by a rivet b³ passed through coincident holes in the sides of the socket and a hole or groove in the end of the handle. The ring or loop is thus firmly attached to the end of the razor shank and occupies a position slightly above the upper edge or back of the razor.

In practice, the razor is held by the operator by inserting his finger through the ring or loop. In this way a convenient handle is secured, and the pivotal connection between the razor and handle as heretofore employed is entirely dispensed with and the rigidity of the razor and handle permits the shaving operation to be performed without danger of cutting from slipping.

Another advantage lies in the fact that there is no projecting portion liable to come in contact with or strike against any object, as occurs where pivotal or extended handles are employed; and also sharpening of a razor having a rigid handle is readily and easily accomplished and the danger of the razor slipping and cutting the operator is successfully avoided.

My improved handle can be attached to any form of razor now in use having rigid shanks projecting therefrom.

It will be observed that the handle shown and described is simple in construction and can be manufactured at a very slight cost, thus reducing the cost of razors made therewith and at the same time promoting their efficiency.

I claim as my invention—

As an improved article of manufacture, a razor having a rigid shank projecting therefrom provided with an outer curved or reduced end, a ring or loop having a socket projecting therefrom in which said curved or reduced end is fitted and a rivet holding said socket, substantially as set forth.
