To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Samuel G. Brosius, a citizen of the United States, residing at Washington, in the District of Columbia, have invented new and useful Improvements in Safety-Razors, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in safety-razors, especially to that class shown and described in my application, Serial No. 246,694, filed February 21, 1905, for United States Letters Patent, and has for its object the production of a safety-razor wherein the idle cutting edge of the razor-blade is protected and the nicking or breaking the razor-blade where it comes in contact with the razor-stops on the front of the razor-shield is avoided. This is accomplished by the construction hereinafter set forth in the specification and shown by the drawings.
Like index-figures indicate like parts throughout the drawings.
As shown in the figures, the razor-shield
The razor-blade is carried by means of the slots
My safety-razor, as set forth and described in the application hereinbefore mentioned, is so constructed that either cutting edge of the razor-blade may be presented for shaving by the razor-blade being lifted from the shield
I do not limit myself to the exact construction shown, as the same may be varied without departing from the spirit of my invention.
What I claim as new, and desire to cover by Letters Patent, is—
1. In a safety-razor, a handle having a shield mounted thereon, a razor-blade having two cutting edges, and a member for holding the razor-blade movable longitudinally of the handle to lift and swing the blade free of the shield, the said shield being provided with a guard protecting the idle cutting edge of the said razor-blade, substantially as described.
2. In a safety-razor, a handle, a shield secured thereto and provided with razor-blade stops in combination with a razor-blade resting on the said shield and pressing against the said stops, the said razor-blade being thickened at the corners of its cutting edge, substantially as described.
3. In a safety-razor, a handle, a shield secured thereto and provided with razor-blade stops in combination with a razor-blade, having two cutting edges, resting on the said shield the said razor-blade being thickened at the corners of its cutting edges, substantially as described.
4. In a safety-razor, a handle, a shield secured thereto and provided with razor-blade stops, in combination with a razor-blade provided wth
5. In a safety-razor, a handle having a shield mounted thereon, a razor-blade having two cutting edges, and a member for holding the razor-blade movable longitudinally of the handle, the said shield being provided with a guard protecting the idle cutting edge of the said razor-blade, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
Samuel G. Brosius.
